A weekend at Table Rock

A couple weekends ago, Joe, Stella and I set off on our next mini adventure while here in Kansas. We headed to Table Rock, Missouri where we stayed in a cabin on the lake. Now, even though we are more south than Minnesota, that doesn’t mean it’s boating season yet. We spent most of our time hiking around Lake Leatherwood in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and driving through the Ozark Mountains.

That Saturday night, the newest member to join our family, baby Jaxton, made his debut. I wish we could have been at the hospital with everyone but the family did a good job at sending pictures our way. We left early Sunday morning to beat the snow/rain/ice that was in the forecast and made our way back to Kansas by first driving through Oklahoma. I can now officially say I’ve been in both Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Who knows where the next adventure will be…

Three Months…

Three months from today marks our little baby boy’s due date. Three months. That’s it. And what do we have to show for it? A painted nursery, a crib and mattress (with no bedding), a closet full of Target clearance clothes of various sizes, gifts we have already received (mostly from my mom and sister) and a growing belly. No pictures hung on the walls, no car seat or stroller, bottles or the essential item I suppose, a baby. I’d like him to stay in there for a while yet though so I’ll overlook that little detail.

I can tell you what has been happening though. My back is a little more sore at the end of the day, sleeping comfortably is a memory of the past, heartburn, shortness of breath when doing the simplest of things like sitting on the couch as I type this and pregnancy brain. It’s a real thing people. I forget the most random things and I never quite feel like my brain is “all there”.

One of the best things though is that he’s moving more and more these days. He’s very active at times to the point where my belly looks like it’s at a disco party. There really are no words to describe feeling your baby move around, growing bigger and stronger every day. It definitely makes you think about the world differently.

Exploring New Places

Living somewhere new means that you have new places to explore. The landscape here in Kansas is much different than back home in Minnesota. I’m guessing you may have already known this but is case you didn’t, it’s pretty flat. At the end of December, Joe, Stella and I took a drive up to the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve for a little hike. This was the first of I’m sure many new places we’ll be adventuring out to…
